A new year also means a new summer. We still didn’t know completely what we would be wearing, so a lot of SS15 campaigns needed to be revealed ASAP. And with a huge load of pictures popping up this week, I noticed one thing; CRISIS!!! Because where are the models?!
The week started with Joan Didion, the iconic 80-year-old author being announced as the new face of Céline. She’s staring in the campaign together with balet dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot, and model Freya Lawrence. I think the not so usual fashionista looks effortless cool in her Céline outfit, and black sunnies. And it definitely is a breath of fresh air to see something different than the usual 19 year old size 0 models.
Miuccia also seems to be totally unimpressed by the current super models, so she decided to hire emerging Hollywood talents for as well Miu Miu, as for Prada. The Miu Miu campaign gives you a look through the chink that shows you the very fashionable actresses Mia Goth (A.K.A. Shia LaBeouf’s girlfriend), Marine Vacth, and Imogen Poots. For the Prada campaign Miuccia is planning to make the girls scream by hiring Ansel Elgort, who is casual peeling an orange. Together with Ethan Hawke, Jack O’Connell, and Miles Teller, this campaign must be a total success!
And last, but definitely not least, my personal fave of the week; Justin Bieberrrr. We knew this one was coming and I’m gonna be honest, I’ve been desperately waiting for it. The new Calvin Klein campaign staring modern day Marky Mark and Kate Moss, JB, and Lara Stone was finally revealed. And of course there is nothing Justin can do without a little (read: a lot of) controversy. It’s common knowledge that JB is quiet muscular, but the cray beliebers knew it within one second: this were not Justin’s real muscles. And not even 24 hours later, the un-retouched photos were leaked and no surprise: the picture is photoshoped as hell. Seriously everything on the picture got a huge enlargement, except for his head. But seriously, who cares?!
A lot of beautiful campaigns, but no models to be seen. Don’t feel too bad for your fave models, because there still were designers like Marc Jacobs and Dior that did use them in their campaigns, so luckily, not all of them will have the Balmain lifestyle (at home with burgers and video games).
